Android Market Adds BOOKS! Standard on Moto XOOM

Digital reading on your Android just got a little bit easier with the addition of Books to the Android Market. Available on both the mobile version and full web version, Books appears to be designed for tablets.  It’s standard on the Motorola Xoom, whose Honeycomb interface was optimized with e-reading in mind.

The book-buying method seems to work pretty simply. It’s basically the same as buying any other app on the Market, just click on your choice, pick your payment option, and the next time you open Books your book will be available.

The application has all the standard options you would expect, and works in conjunction with Google Books. You have the ability to search by title, interest, price, or genre. Once you’ve made a selection, you can read in your browser, or if you have Google Books installed and synced, you can read your purchase there as well.

According to web reports, the Books section of the Android Market is only currently working for those in the US, hopefully this is only temporary, as I’m sure other countries would like to try this out too. Happy reading.
