DivX Plus HD SoC shows how to have HD fun

DivX are known for their specializing in digital video codec and have some news from Barcelona. At MWC, they announced Renesas  Mobile Corporation’s SH-Mobile MT1 (SH73704) which is the world’s first DivX Plus HD certified mobile system-on-chip(S0C). As you all know, handsets or smartphones were compared or reviewed on the basis of connectivity, display size with resolution and so on. Nowadays, they are benchmarked with respect to the processor speed or CPU.

But now with the introduction of SH73704, devices are going to another level. With this technology, handsets or tablets can handle SD and HD(1080p) files without the need of converting the files before transferring to the devices. In other words, process of videos at full HD is possible with SH-Mobile MT1. They also offer noise reduction and audio processing (2 channel/5.1 channel) without draining the battery.

Matt Milne, EVP and GM at DivX, said,

DivX Plus HD is our premium level of certification, and it’s a testament to Renesas Mobile’s technology leadership that they are the first integrated circuit company to achieve our most comprehensive standards for HD video playback on a mobile phone. By partnering with an innovator like Renesas Mobile that supplies technology to a range of top-tier device manufacturers, we’ll help ensure more consumers can watch the highest quality DivX videos at home or on the go.
