Just in time to tease before Mobile World Congress 2011, LG has unleashed a teaser trailer featuring the LG Optimus Pad or should I say, the LG Optimus Prime! Transformers love tablets too, and apparently when Optimus Prime isn’t busy saving the world or being a truck, he’s a pretty little Android Tablet.
This MWC promo is exactly what you would expect from LG, as they try to take a bite out of the tablet market already filling up with heavy hitters. While the CG isn’t the greatest, a message is clear and present. LG wants to smash Apple in the tablet game, with an apple literally getting smashed in the hands of Optimus in the trailer. Brought to us by fictional Michael Boy and Steven Spillback, the promo trailer features Optimus Prime aka the Optimus Pad smashing through a cityscape, fighting off the evil Megatron and destroying what looks like Apple HQ in the process, saying “Optimus will destroy evil.” Sounds like we have a war on our hands.
The mock movie trailer was released on YouTube, then appeared to have been taken down, either due to an unhappy Apple, or the suits over at Paramount. We were able to get ahold of a working version, for the time being, so be sure to check it out and let us know what you think.
