Minecraft, which has been a smash hit in the PC and Mac worlds, is releasing on Android later this year. Minecraft is an independently-made game developed by Markus Persson and has sold, as of this writing 1,375,101 copies! The crazy part about it is, the game is only in “beta” form (meaning it is not the final copy of the game).
Kotaku spoke with the team and said that the game is being developed in-house and will be released later this year. The game is like a giant sandbox allowing you to build whatever your heart desires, but the only main enemy comes out at night, so you need to build a shelter to live inside. It does have multiplayer, and that’s where a lot of the fun comes in. My college roommates have spent numerous hours designing all sorts of things in this game, and give it a lot of praise!
If you want to see what all you can build, just give a Google Images search for Minecraft and see some of the really amazing stuff people have come up with. An official trailer is embedded below to see what the gameplay is like. Anyone out there play Minecraft? If you have some images of your work post them in the comments!
