Software Bug Halts Shipments of NOOKcolor

Shipments of Barnes & Noble’s NOOKcolor  were halted to introduce hacking-free version of the device, said the rumor. This would make it difficult for hackers and/or modders to crack the device. But this claim was said to false according to a Barnes and Noble source.

But the shipments have halted for now, supposedly not because of the hacking issues. The claim is this resulted from a bug in Barnes & Noble’s inventory system. The company  is undertaking stock count as for now to update its current orders and then resume its services for the new units. Due to all this, production delay is expected  coming out of China. Barnes & Noble were kind enough to release a statement on handling their in-store stock:

“B&N’s short-term solution to the problem is to move stock from one store to another to cover demand, with cooperation at the local level between stores.”

It seems that users would not get hold of the device for sometime, which delays their ability to show off with cool stuff such as installing Honeycomb for their rooted device.
