It looks like tech site Engadget might have a few connections. They were just able to land a prototype version of the much-anticipated Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, aka the Playstation Phone. Then they proceeded to flaunt it during one of the latest episodes of the Engadget web show.
The video which can be seen below is nothing more than a huge tease, but a worthy tease indeed. Clocking in just under nine minutes, along the way we learn the version of the X-Play that Engadget has is a working prototype. The members note that neither the headphone jack or Wi-Fi are working on the device in hand. Further into the clip there is some debate over the game controls, mainly what the official name of the gaming buttons on the top left and right of the device are supposed to be called. Oh, and those two spots in the middle of the device are “optical pads”. Somewhere along the way, they guys break out a little Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha. Although it is said to have a low framerate, but looked great.
We still could see the Xperia Play show up at Mobile World Congress, which is right around the corner, but if not I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more hands-on videos leaked to build up that hype. Be sure to check out the video below!
