USA Today Heads to Honeycomb Tablets

The Android OS 3.0 (Honeycomb) Motorola Xoom is bringing with it a batch of optimized tablet-only apps, one of which is the newly announced USA Today. The Android smartphone version of USA Today is already one of the most downloaded news applications, and features a sleek, clean user-friendly user interface. With the tablet version you’ll get all the same sections including News, Money, Sports, Life, Tech, Travel, Photos, and Weather.

“We’re excited to have the USA TODAY App launch along with the Motorola Xoom,” said Dave Hunke, president and publisher, USA TODAY. “Users will receive news as it breaks, 24 hours, 7 days a week, as well as photos, weather, stocks and sports scores. Powered by Android 3.0 Honeycomb, we’ve created a fast, friendly interface that users have come to expect from USA TODAY.”

I’ve used USA Today on my Evo as a go-to news source and it has never let me down. A tablet-specific version sounds like a perfect combination. With larger hi-def pictures and videos, detailed in-depth news coverage, and all the latest breaking news this should be on everyone’s tab.
