YoYo Games Bringing Mr. Karoshi to Android, Kill Him Now.

Karoshi games have become incredibly popular as a desktop browser-based Flash game for a while now. YoYo Games is bringing the craze to Android this Friday (February 9th) with “Karoshi.”  The game follows the traditional style of Karoshi games where you help the main character Mr. Karoshi (who is an over-worked Japanese man) end his life by solving a series of puzzles to avoid the actual act of Karoshi (death from too much work).

Games where you try to kill your player rather than keep him alive are a relatively new thing, but they have been catching on in a big way. The game will undoubtedly have the same dark humor as the Flash games, and will be a hit with the fans of this niche gaming genre. It will be available in the Android Market on February 9th for $1.99. Check out some more screenshots of the upcoming game below;

Press Release

Extreme Puzzle-Platformer to hit iOS and Android Devices This February

Dundee, UK –YoYo Games, the leading portal for user-generated game content, is pleased to announce that Karoshi, its innovative puzzle-platformer title, will be launching for iOS and Android devices on 9th February. Developed by Dutch coder Jesse Venbrux, Karoshi has built a cult following in its browser incarnation, thanks to its unique approach to puzzling and unusual objectives, which sees players having to ensure their character ends up resting in peace, rather than keeping them alive.

Karoshi involves assisting Mr Karoshi, an overworked Japanese businessman, to end his life rather than wait for the inevitable ‘Karoushi’. Puzzles fiendish enough to tax any player’s brain await Mr Karoshi as he tries to attain his goal, where lateral thinking and eureka moments are the name of the game, and a good bout of head-scratching will lead to a range of hilarious and surprising solutions across the game’s 50 different puzzle stages.

Sandy Duncan, CEO, YoYo Games, comments: “Karoshi is a highly original puzzle platformer series that has been quite the phenomenon in its browser form. Its dark humour and distinctive take on the platform puzzle genre has already helped it to amass a large following of fans online.”  He adds, “We’re overjoyed to be launching Karoshi for iOS and Android devices, and bringing the mind-bending challenge of helping Mr Karoshi end his life (in fifty ways) to entirely new audiences.”

Karoshi will be available to download via the App store, priced at £0.59/$1.00 and for Android devices priced at £1.19/$2.00, from 9th February 2011.
