HTC Flyer Sales Predictions aren’t Sky-High
New news in regards to the forthcoming HTC Flyer; the Commercial Times over in Taiwan has reported that HTC is predicting order volumes will reach 1 million by the end of August 2011. Now, the end of August is just over 5 months away, meaning if the Flyer were to be available right now, that would total sales of about 174,000 per month until then.
What would HTC Flyer sales look like?
For comparison’s sake, the iPad last year sold 3,000,000 in its first 80 days or about 2.5 months. Now, the iPad had no competition at the time so that comparison is a little biased. And we don’t have any actual figures for the Motorola XOOM just yet, but Sanjay Jha has said they are pleased so far.
HTC Flyer has competition, too
But with the iPad 2 coming out this Friday, which will retail for $499, again, and the XOOM out with better specs, and the G-Slate coming out and the Galaxy Tab 10.1, does the Flyer even survive a chance given the $600 pricing rumors? And the fact that some of the major selling points are Sense and this stylus functionality they’ve added, will it be enough to sway consumers? Look at how stylus inputs turned out on Windows-powered tablets.
Let us know in comments what you think of the HTC Flyer and how it compares to other tablets.
