Verizon Has No Desire To Acquire Sprint

The news just came it that AT&T is purchasing T-Mobile pending FCC approval and everyone wants to know how Verizon will respond. Verizon Wireless CEO Daniel Mead stated he would not oppose AT&T’s plans to buy Telekom’s  T-Mobile USA for $39 billion. Verizon’s response to a Sprint acquisition is that they don’t want to be distracted from their major goal.

Verizon Focused On Staying The Most Profitable Carrier

The Verizon CEO was not coy about his companies feeling on making a merger and CEO Mead stated, “We’re not interested in Sprint. We don’t need them”. He feels the T-Mobile deal will through the FCC and he does not feel threatened by no longer being the nations #1 carrier.

Verizon has an amazing lineup scheduled for this year and clearly will have the best portfolio of the U.S. carriers. Verizon is the first to LTE and will likely have the largest footprint across the nation. Things are looking good at Verizon and the AT&T looks more like a plan to keep up then to get ahead.
