It seems like everyone wants a piece of the Android pie these days. Acer wants to jump in as well, and they are doing so with the Iconia smartphone. Some months back, at the Mobile World Congress, AndroidCentral review this device with a hands on. Now, it is in the hands of the FCC awaiting approval.
Well, what’s the phone like?
The smartphone itself is looking like it has some great specs on it. It has two (2) cameras, an 8 MP on the back, and a 1.3MP on the front. Not the most stellar camera for video conferencing, but it will definitely get the job done. The screen itself is 1024 x 480, and with an HDMI-out and 720p video recording capability, it might be a media creator’s love. From what we’ve heard, the phone is carrying Android 2.3 with the AcerBreeze UI overlaying it.
Looking at the 850, 1900 and 2100 MHZ 3G frequencies, it is rumored to be coming out for AT&T as well as Rogers, but we’ll have to wait and see. The FCC has the phone, as well as the user manual, so hopefully it won’t be too long before we see this phone circulating the Android world.
