Seesmic released an update to their very popular Android Twitter client and it introduces some really innovative features. Home screen shortcuts aren’t new to Android but I am not aware of another Twitter client that allows you to add shortcuts for common actions like these:
- Compose
- Replies & Mentions
- Facebook Page
- Search
- Twitter Lists
- Salesforce Chatter
If you have a Twitter and Facebook account set up you can have an icon for each accounts feed and you’ll find an icon in the upper left corner for each service type. You can also place compose shortcuts for one click access.
- Translation: Translate updates to your current language instantly.
- Spam: Mark Twitter accounts as spam in one tap.
- Improved Links: Links to tweets or profiles and links to Facebook updates and profiles may be opened directly in Seesmic instead of your browser
- General improvements & Tablet UI: We took care of many of the little things you asked us to fix, and Seesmic looks better than ever on Android 3.0 Tablets.
I reinstalled Seesmic to try it again for this post and I am going to keep it around. It has a much more polished look than TweetDeck and that one click spam button has come in very handy already. It’s a winner for me.
