Google I/O Announces Play Along at Home

Google just posted on their blog that during Google I/O you will be able to join in on the fun without actually being there!

If you were one of the many unlucky ones who couldn’t get a ticket (the event sold out in 53 minutes!) then this may pick your hopes up. Of course it is not as good as actually being there but as far as next best things go, this is as close as you can get. On May 10th and 11th visit www.google.com/io to experience the magic.

The Google I/O Homepage will:

• Give you access to livestream video feeds from their two largest session rooms from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm PST during both days of the conference. This will include the main events for Chrome and Android.
• The ability to read captions in real time. Google translate will also machine translate to as many languages as is possible.
• The latest news and announcements will also be available straight away from the I/O page’s dashboard.
• Submit your questions to the Sandbox developers where posts with the most votes will get answered.

Personally I think this is fantastic. Google will want to get as much exposure as possible especially during the big events and this is the best way to do it. I remember watching the Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) announcement last year and I will hopefully be doing the same this year to see what is up next for Android.
