Rumor: LG Optimus Pad and Huawei S7 coming to Rogers May 10th

Under the category of “with a grain of salt”, Mobilesyrup.com is reporting that a source within Rogers has given them information that the LG Optimus Tab and Huawei S7 tablets are set to drop on May 10th. If the date holds up, the releases will cover both the high and low-end of the tablet spectrum.

LG Optimus Tablet

The LG Optimus Pad is the same as the soon to be released T-Mobile G-Slate in the US and is a top of the line device that can more than compete with the comparable 3G iPad. It boasts Honeycomb, 3D display and dual core Tegra 2 processor among it’s other beefy specs:

  • OS: Google Android 3.0 (Honeycomb)
  • Display: 8.9 inch touch-screen 3D-capable 1280 x 768
  • CPU: 1 GHz + (Dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor)
  • Memory, internal, 32 GB
  • Front-facing camera
  • Thin, probably an inch in width or less
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G support
  • GPS
  • Battery 6,400 mAh

Huawei S7 Tablet

The Huawei S7 is the 7″ tablet that Steve Jobs says you don’t need. This little number will offer a lower priced option to the low-end 3G iPad and one that comes in a smaller package to boot. The specs of the device are weak and the display resolution is lacking by today’s standards and comes with the following specifications from their website:

  • OS: Androidâ„¢ (Not listed but Froyo 2.2)
  • HSDPA: up to 7.2 Mbit/s; HSUPA: up to 5.76 Mbit/s; Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n
  • I/O: USIM card socket; SD card slot; Micro USB; 3.5mm stereo audio jack; Stereo speakers
  • Buttons: Touch sensor button, Power on/off, volume up/down, navigator, home, back, menu, call; send/down
  • Other: Gravity sensor (Is that the display?)
  • Display: 7″ TFT touch screen, 800×480
  • Battery: Li-ION 2200mAh

The report doesn’t detail any pricing information or provide any confirmation of the May 10th date, but even if it slips both of these tablets should be well worth the wait.
