Samsung Galaxy Tab Falls from Grace, Bell Slashes Price to $399 No Contract

How the Mighty Samsung Galaxy Tab Has Fallen… Pricewise

Once upon a time (last November) the Samsung Galaxy Tab was the top dog when it came to Android tablets, and priced at $649.95 it nearly had the world at its feet.

Coming back to the present the Galaxy Tab is now a shadow of its former self. New bigger and better Android OS 3.0 (Honeycomb) wielding tablets are almost upon us, and to reflect that, Canadian mobile carrier Bell has brought down the price to $399.95 off-contract or $199.95 on a 3-year contract.

Samsung Galaxy Tab: So Close Yet So Far From Being The Best

With a 1 GHz processor, 16 GB internal storage with upto 32 GB extra in external storage, a 7 inch touch screen and front and back cameras (5 MP and 1.3 MP respectively) it certainly had the potential to be a great portable tablet. Sadly it was ahead of its time and with Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) running the show, it was always going to struggle. That’s true even more so now that the market is soon to be showered with Motorola Xooms, Samsungs Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9, and Blackberrys Playbook to name just a few.

What do you think? Worth the price? Or worth holding on till something better arrives? Hit the comments below to let us know what you think of these price reductions on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
