During the mammoth session that was the keynote address at Google I/O today, it was announced that everyone of the 5,000 attendees would receive a free limited edition Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The device that was originally announced at Mobile World Congress, and later re-announced at CTIA with a new look and thinner form factor, is a sleek, dual-core powerhouse and it looks to be getting great support from Google. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is currently running Android Honeycomb 3.0 but is slated to receive the Honeycomb 3.1 update announced today “in the next few weeks”. Perhaps the Xoom is no longer Google’s favourite son in the tablet arena? Personally, I’m still keeping my eyes and ears open for news of the rumoured Nexus tablet, whoever makes it.
