Well it already looks like someone has gotten to the races early and have made a new Universal Android remote. The Smart touch URC Andi-One, made by South Korea’s Conspin, can receive up to 50 remote controls for any devices out putting IR and RF communication signals. So essentially this is one step closer to the Android@Home experience we got to see at Google I/O a few weeks ago. The Andi-One is running on Android 2.1 (Eclair), has built in Wi-Fi, and can run Android applications.
While the device itself looks pretty gimmicky, it at least has some good start-up potential for others to catch on. The Andi-One is set with a $350 price tag, but that could be worth it to you to be able to surf the internet and switch around to play that new Bullet For My Valentine disc from your sound system, or switch back to finish an email while watching the news. So for all you first adopters out there, this could be your first step into Android home automation.
