HTC is really going to charge $80 for the Flyer "Magic Pen"

I didn’t want to laugh when I read that HTC is going to ask for $80 for the Flyer magic pen, I just couldn’t help myself. I saw the video embedded below a few weeks ago and I’ll admit that I thought it was an interesting idea. But $80?

We’ve covered the Flyer so I won’t go through all of the specs again, I’ll just say that this is a modest tablet when stacked up against the less expensive Transformer and Iconia 10″ tablets, both of which run Honeycomb. Though HTC claims that the Flyer will get a Honeycomb update shortly after release that really doesn’t offset the total stupidity of charging an additional $80 for what is supposed to be this tablets main selling point. It’s kind of like buying a new car and having to pay another $80 to get the keys.

Probably the best part of the entire story is that it is only the US market that is getting the short sheet treatment on this whole stylus issue. Over in Europe the pen is in the box at purchase.
