Three months after Google+ first launched, Google is opening it up to public, so now everyone can sign-up to Google+ without needing an invitation. But that is not all. It also brings some new features that are some of the most demanded from its users.
Hangouts on Mobile
One such feature is Hangouts for mobile. Many have thought that Hangouts was an obvious feature for mobile phones with front-facing cameras, so Google has gone to work and brought this to us. You can now just a Hangout from your phone, inside the Google+ app, just like you would on your computer. Find one in your stream and simply tap Join, or start one yourself and wait for your friends to appear.
Hangout on Air
Then we have Hangout on Air, which is great for celebrities, or people in general that want to address to whoever is listening out there – even politicians could use it. Anyone with a Google+ account can become a spectator of such a broadcast from the celebrity you like.
Hangout Extras
And perhaps even bigger than all that, is the addition of Hangout Extras, which includes stuff like:
- Screensharing: for when you want to show off your vacation photos, your high score, your lesson plan or whatever else is on your screen
- Sketchpad: for when you want to draw, doodle, or just scribble together
- Google Docs: for when you want to write, plan or present something with others
- Named Hangouts: for when you want to join or create a public hangout about a certain topic (like fashion or music or sports…)
