Featured: Rumored Galaxy S III to Have Monster Specs

Remember when just about a year ago we were getting excited about the “monster” specs of the upcoming dual core phones? Well that’s so…last year! If this rumor is to be believed, the next gen Galaxy S phone will have a Samsung made (Exynos?) quad core 2 Ghz processor, 1.5 GB of RAM (a first so far), 32 GB of internal storage, and a 4.65″ display, that will also be a next-generation Super AMOLED, called Super AMOLED III (Super AMOLED+ being sort of Super AMOLED 2).

That display would most like include an HD or higher than HD resolution, as well as better color reproduction (since AMOLED displays are not that great at it, but things have been improving with SAMOLED+)

Apparently the Android Ice-Cream Sandwich user interface will be so user-friendly that TouchWiz 5.0 won’t be as intrusive as previous versions, but more of a light skin. Here’s what the anonymous tipster had to say about it:

The phone will have Androids latest Ice Cream Sandwich software and an all new TouchWiz 5 which has been in co-development with Google during the development of the Galaxy Nexus, so according to the Samsung representatives, it isn’t as “intrusive to Android” as previous TouchWiz versions were. It seems TouchWiz will play a minor role and only have little improvements to ICS. It won’t control the user experience. One of the reasons why they’re not going with a full TouchWiz experience is for a few reasons, one being that the ICS experience is very user friendly already and also it will also Samsung to update software on their phones at a faster rate than they have in the past.

The phone will also have an NFC chip, which Galaxy S II doesn’t unfortunately, except AT&T’s version. It also has a 2250 mAh battery, which is probably not just nice to have but mandatory at this point, especially with a screen that large, although SAMOLED III may come with some improvements in power consumption as well. It will also have a 10 MP camera, that is able to shoot 1080p video at 60 FPS. The chassis of the phone will be made out of metal and glass.

The phone is supposed to be shown at MWC 2012, and it will have a world-wide launch around mid 2012 (which is later than the first rumored January launch of Galaxy S III, but with specs like that who can blame them. It will most likely be the first device in the market when it arrives, and will also be the best one for the next 6 months or so, just like the first and second Galaxy S devices have managed to do.

So what do you guys think? Are you already excited about this phone, or are you going to get a Galaxy S II/Nexus Prime when it arrives on your carrier?
