Featured: Google Nexus Prime Specs Leaked

Every Android fan is excitedly waiting for the Nexus Prime right now and mouthwatering at every single leak. Today we have one more, a leak of the specs, although we can say it’s more of a confirmation for most of them, since we already heard rumors about what the Nexus Prime will have.

Here’s the full list of specs leaked:

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
  • TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz
  • 1 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage
  • 5 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video capture, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera
  • LTE / HSPA mobile broadband
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, NFC support
  • 1750 mAh battery
Everything was more or less expected, including the 5 MP camera that we heard would have an “advanced sensor” earlier this year. But what comes as a bit of a surprise is the processor, which is apparently a TI OMAP 4460, but clocked at 1.2 Ghz. So far we only know that TI has a dual core 1 Ghz OMAP 4430 chip, that was also rumored to be upgraded to 1.2 Ghz, and also a TI OMAP 4460 chip that’s a dual core at 1.5 Ghz.
So what’s going on here? Either it’s going to use the same OMAP 4430 chip in the Bionic, but overclocked to 1.2 Ghz, or it’s going to use an OMAP 4460 but underclocked to 1.2 Ghz from 1.5 Ghz. Another possibility is that the tipster got it wrong, and it’s actually the regular OMAP 4460 at 1.5 Ghz.
Unless TI had a problem with their OMAP 4460, I don’t know why Google would underclock the chip. Is it to increase the battery life of the phone? But then why are they putting only a 1750 mAh battery in a phone with a 4.65″ display?
My conclusion is that we should take this rumor with a grain of salt, especially since we only have 4 days left until the grand announcement at CTIA this year, October 11.
