It looks like HTC is about to have a good year with the adoption of Tegra 3 and Krait chips in their phones, the adoption of Android 4.0, and by finally starting to be competitive thinness wise. I think this is important not just because of the very fact that it makes HTC look competitive with all the other companies (even Huawei, which will show very thin phones), but because once you can go this thin, it also means you can go a bit thicker and put a whole lot of battery inside that phone, and that’s something Motorola has already showed us with the RAZR MAXX.
The HTC One S (formerly known as Ville) looks a lot like his brother, the HTC One X, which features a Tegra 3 chip, but that one is 4.7″ big, and the One S is only 4.3″. What’s starting to be disappointing about these new phones is that they still come with qHD displays, which shouldn’t be the case for 2012 flagship models, and also only 1 GB of RAM.
While that may still be enough for most phones, we’re going to see phones that use full operating systems when docked, and do a whole lot more browsing, and they will be in dire need of more memory. But that is probably going to take a few more months, and maybe HTC and the others will come out with even higher specs by then, in new models of course.
