App Name: Mysteryville by Nevosoft
Description:
There’s something sinister happening in Mysteryville: the cats have started to disappear from this quaint little down. You take the role as a young journalist named Laura Winner set out to determine what exactly is happening to all the felines in town. Laura uses her detective skills as a journalist to discover various secrets hidden through all 21 buildings in town. Hot on the trail of the mystery, you and Laura interview the town’s residents and find clues to solve the case. As you travel around town you, interact and meet various characters all with different personalities in an unpredictable adventure.
How it works:
Mysteryville is a classic hidden object game. You move around town from building to building interviewing each town resident. After briefly speaking to them, you’re tasked to search the room or building and find all of the miscellaneous items scattered through the scenery. You’ll search for keys, dice, bottles of wine, playing cards and just about anything including the kitchen sink. Once you find an object, just tap the screen to mark it as completed so that you may mark that object off of the list. Sometimes you may need a little help, Nevosoft has you covered. Just tap the light bulb icon and an area of the screen will sparkle giving you a quick hint to where the another object lies.
Upon completing a level, you can post your progress to either Facebook or Twitter before moving on to the next level. Being a social game, Mysteryville also supports the widely popular gaming platform OpenFeint so you truly interact with your friends.
Opinion:
Hidden object games can become an obsession and are very addicting. The games suck you in and you are compelled to find one more clue before you call it a night. You’ll find yourself beaming and filled with a rush of excitement upon finding that last hidden object in Mysteryville. The feeling that comes from solving a case leaves you with a sense of accomplishment and pride.
Pros:
In addition to being fun to play and addictive, Mysteryville’s graphics are very sharp and detail oriented. The game play is quite smooth as you move from level to level and building to building. The novice hidden object gamer will love the mystery while the experienced gamer will be thrilled upon completing each levels challenges.
Cons:
Use OpenFeint, Facebook, or Twitter to brag about your scores. Taking screenshots, at least using the Ice Cream Sandwich built in technique, causes the game to close. I’m sure this bug will be fixed in the near future.
Conclusion:
I enjoyed putting on my sleuth hat and getting into detective journalist mode. If you are a hidden object game lover and love solving criminal mysteries, you’ll love Mysteryville. The wonderful story, unique characters, short challenges, and crisp graphics make this game worth having a look and spending the $2.99 for the full version.
