There’s been more than a fair few rumors surrounding the much-fabled Google tablet that’s rumored to be produced by ASUS instead of their sub-$250 Tegra 3 tablet they unveiled with Nvidia at CES at the beginning of the year. Digitimes have learned from “sources from the upstream supply chain” that these tablets will be unveiled in June and available on the market by July. These tablets have been rumored for some time and it’d be nice to see another pure Google device hit the market as we’ve not seen one since the Motorola Xoom early last year.
If the rumors hold true – which at this point seems more than likely – then it sure is going to be a big year for Google on the hardware side of things. With the recently all-but-confirmed rumor of Google brining five Nexus devices this fall to celebrate Android’s birthday and now this tablet for a summer release, it all looks like Google is ready to put more muscle behind stock Android then they have done before.
Whether or not the devices in question will launch with Android 5.0 Jelly Bean or Android 4.0 will more than likely be determined come Google I/O coming up fast. It’d sure be nice to be able to buy a tablet with relevant hardware that ran the latest and greatest from Google. Expect more on this when we have it.
