Just in case some of you are unfamiliar with what happened, some of HTC’s devices were slapped with a fairly disheartening moniker that caused US customs to delay their release. The concern was that they had infringed upon some of Apples patents. The devices known to be involved were the HTC EVO 4G LTE and the HTC One X. Back on May 15th, the EVO 4G LTE and One x were stated as the first devices to see the delay.
A statement issued by HTC on their investor relations website states that “Some of our products have passed review and have been delivered to our telecoms operators’ clients in the U.S.” Other statements from HTC say that they don’t know or have the individual statuses of each specific device model, but that they are working closely with customs and have confidence that the problems will be resolved shortly. According to this update it sounds like customs is ok with whatever workarounds HTC has come up with to bypass the Apple patent infringement claim. At least this seems like a plausible scenario. As of now, no devices have been listed specifically but we do know that a couple of them have been cleared. If you’re a customer that has been waiting to jump into a new HTC device, don’t give up hope. Good news is on the horizon. Not long now and you could be the proud owner of shiny new HTC phone.
