Today is Samsung’s launch event, Unpacked, for the much anticipated Galaxy S III smartphone. Among the 4.8 inch display, 2100mAh battery, 8 megapixel camera, and more, the new smartphone brings some very interesting features.
One of those is a feature called S Voice which looks very similar to Siri. Ask a question and it will give you a response. S Voice according to The Verge, “allows for SMS / email dictation, media control, calendar management, and — most importantly — it responds to you saying “snooze” when the alarm goes off. It can also launch the camera and capture a photo.” What’s cool about this feature as well is that you can pull up S Voice, even if you’re screen is turned off, by saying a few different phrases such as “Hello Galaxy”.
Another feature is eye tracking which, by using the front facing camera, can tell whether or not you’re looking at the screen and if you are, will not turn off the display. We’ve all been reading something on our phone and because of our display settings, the screen turns off, you have to hit the power button to turn it back on, and if you’ve got a lockscreen, have to go through that.
With this, as long as you’re looking at the screen, again, the display will stay lit. Also, say you’re in a text message window with someone and want to give them a call, you simply bring the phone to your ear and the Galaxy S III will automatically dial their number with the new Direct Call feature.
Lastly, say you missed some calls or text messages while your phone was left idle, when you pick the phone back up, it will vibrate by letting you know you may have missed something.
