Description
Monster Home, as the game title suggests, is a game where you help monsters find their way home. Each of the four monster types have their very own den in which they call ‘home’. Monsters aren’t the brightest crayons in the box, it’s up to you to help them into their den by drawing a path for them to walk on, leading them in the right direction.
How it works
After launching Monster Home, you’re presented with three levels of difficulty: Novice, Master, and Lord, each increasing in difficulty and adding more game features as you move up the scale. After choosing your difficulty, you choose a level and are assigned a task such as help X amount of monsters find their den. If you’re playing on anything but novice, you’ll also be given a number of ‘lives’ to complete your task before running out.
As mentioned earlier, each type of monster has their own dedicated den or home. No matter how hard you try, they won’t go anywhere but their own den. Upon tapping on a particular monster, a den lights up bright red, indicating which den is theirs. Next, you draw a path from where the monster currently is to their den. The monster will then walk the drawn line until they make it home.
That doesn’t seem very challenging, but you see, there’s a catch. None of these monsters play nicely with one another. In fact, when in close proximity to one another, they begin a fierce duel to the death. You must quickly, before a monsters life bar gets completely drained, draw a new path, moving them away from on another. Besides having to watch out for other monsters, you’ll have to avoid obstacles such as clouds from time to time, hindering your field of view.
To complete the level and move onto the next, you must complete your previously assigned objective such as a certain amount of monsters can’t walk off the screen or a certain amount of monsters can’t die from fighting one another.
Opinion
If the games objectives and play style sound familiar, it’s because we’ve seen this game before. Remember the best selling game on Android and iOS called Flight Control? Monster Home has an extremely similar concept. Instead of planes, you have monsters. Instead of airstrips and helipads, we have dens. Instead of planes crashing into one another, we have monsters battling to the death.

Pros
Monsters, fighting. If that isn’t good enough, the developers over at UnitPoint did an great job with the graphics and sound. It’s a game that you can pick up and play for a few minutes at a time while on the bus, train, or lounging around the house as it isn’t too involved.
Cons
The game starts out pretty slow, but eventually picks up the pace with increasing difficulty. Monster Home can get a bit repetitive at times, but overall it’s not a bad first game from UnitPoint.
Conclusion
Lastly, if you enjoyed Flight Control (who didn’t) then you’ll love Monster Home. As mentioned above the concept is fairly similar but with monsters. The game isn’t overly difficult compared to other games. For the casual gamer or for the kids, this would be simple enough and easily playable.
