Featured: Google Play Finally Gets TV Shows, More Movies, Can Now Subscribe To Your Favorite Magazines

One of the things that’s been lacking with Google Play for Android users, is the fact that there’s a very limited selection of movies, and TV shows were non-existent. Thankfully and due to partnerships with multiple studios, TV shows have finally made their way to the Play Store. Google announced content partnerships with NBC, Disney, Universal, ABC, Paramount, and Sony pictures to make it happen.

Not only will users have access to more movies and TV shows through their Android devices, but they’ll also be able to subscribe to their favorite magazines since a content agreement has been reached with various companies as well. Conde Nast and Hearst were the two large companies mentioned. The whole “Play” name and philosophy is starting to take flight and make more sense.

Many who use Apple TV, have been able to enjoy a slew of movies and TV shows for quite a while, so it’s nice that Google was finally able to bring more and better content to those who choose Android as their primary mobile OS. TV shows can be purchased via episode or by purchasing an entire season. Magazine subscriptions can be done by an entire issue or subscription. This gives users more freedom, as some will just want one or two of something and not the whole thing.

Pricing is very reasonable. A TV episode will run you $1.99 while an entire season will cost $22.99 and up depending on how may episodes ran that season. Movies all vary, typically $2.99 and up. Magazine pricing isn’t specific, though I saw some as low as 99 cents for a single issue and others at $4.99 an issue or more. Worth mentioning that many come with a free trial if you choose to subscribe rather than just buy an issue.
