Lamborghini, known for their exotic cars, is venturing yet again into the mobile space. Let’s see: You’ve already got a ridiculously expensive Murcielago, Aventador, or maybe Gallardo, but you’re stuck with an Android smartphone from one of many manufacturers, or even an iPhone. Or you just want to say you own a Lamborghini without shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Well, today is your day. The car company unveiled their very own custom Android smartphone dubbed the TL700 as well as a tablet, the L2800. Below are the specs, phone first:
- 3.7 inch WVGA sapphire crystal display
- Qualcomm processor, single or dual core nor speed revealed
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
- 5 megapixel rear-facing camera
- VGA front-facing camera (0.3 megapixel)
- 4GB internal storage, no mention of microSD card slot
- 1400mAh battery
Now, for the tablet:
- 9.7 inch WVGA sapphire crystal display at 1024×768
- 1.2GHZ Qualcomm processor, likely single core
- 5 megapixel rear-facing camera
- 4GB internal storage with microSD card support
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but reported to eventually get Android 4.0
- Pair of speakers on the back
At this point, you’re probably wondering what the price of these babies are. The smartphone will set you back $2,750. Keep in mind the case is made of gold and crocodile skin. The tablet, while not as lavishly designed, will set you back $2,290. Lamborghini also announced two other phones which are feature phones at best. The TL688 has a 2 inch display, 3 megapixel rear-facing camera, and 4GB internal storage. It will cost between $1,842 and $2,149.
The TL820 has a 2.4 inch display with 640×480 resolution, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, VGA front-facing camera, 1GB internal storage which is expandable, 1200mAh battery, and will cost $2,456. Cases on both phones feature gold and leather. All of these devices will be available starting in August 2012.
For such expensive phones and an expensive tablet, you would think they’d have far better specs. Over 2 grand for a phone? I want AT LEAST quad core, 2GB RAM, amazing display, 64GB storage, 4G LTE, phenomenal battery life, Android 4.0 with 4.1 support, and the ability to do my dishes. Okay, maybe not that last one, but come on. Then again, you’re mostly paying for the name here. And gold. Don’t forget the gold.
