We reported on LG’s latest phone coming to Sprint some time ago and it looked to be a pretty well specced phone at the time and it looks like it’d go toe-to-toe with Samsung’s Galaxy S III when it hits US shores however, with some more details on the phone it looks set to become a high-specced and powerful phone in its own right.
The phone is now said to be going by the name of the LG Eclipse and now carries model numbers LS970 and E970 for Sprint and AT&T, respectively. The phone is letting some more of its secrets go and it’s now been revealed that the phone will be packing a quad-core Snapdragon S4 “Krait” chip with the outfit’s improved Adreno 320 GPU. The GPU alone should give the phone fighting chance against Samsung’s latest at least. The Eclipse has been spotted with a User Agent Profile and Bluetooth 4.0 certification, the User Agent Profile was listed for the E970 specifically and confirms a resolution of 1280×768. With a screen size rumored to be 4.67″ then this would deliver a welcome 320ppi. The Bluetooth certificate has listed that the device be “available on North America market around 2012.10.31”.
The LS970 – for Sprint – is listed as having a 1280×720 resolution which is a little lower but, nothing that’s going to kill you for sure. The phones were also seen doing the benchmark circuit – which are always to be taken with a grain of salt as everyone knows a phone can feel fast as hell but, benchmark rather poorly. In these many benchmarks the phone came a little ahead of HTC’s One X which, has been the gaming powerhouse since it hit the market earlier in the year. Of course, who knows what the holiday season bring? We could see some improved versions of the S III hit the scene and perhaps Motorola will bring something genuinely new to the table.
