The Samsung Galaxy Note has done quite well despite getting a little negative buzz when people made fun of it for having a stylus. All that buzz definitely added up, good or bad considering the Note has went on to sell over 7 Million units in less than one year. A hybrid smartphone/tablet, the next installment, the Galaxy Note 2, will be out in October according to sources.
Here’s the specs and what we know so far:
- 5.5 inch 1680—1050 Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 360ppi, 34 more pixels per inch than the iPhone 4/4S Retina display.
- Dual-core Exynos 5250 processor (not sure if 1.7GHZ or 2GHZ at this moment)
- 1.5GB RAM
- 8 Megapixel camera with improved lens and image sensor
- 4G LTE
This gives us a good idea of what the phone will be like. As far as storage is concerned, the Galaxy Note came with 16GB and a microSD card slot so we should likely expect the same, maybe even a 32GB version this time around. Also, the battery was 2500mAh so it’d be safe to assume around that for the Note 2. Customers will be able to enjoy 1080p video recording and since there will be an improve lens and image sensor, that means better quality photos.
Since the original Galaxy Note came with a 1.4GHZ dual core processor, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Samsung just bump that speed up to 1.7 instead of the complete 2GHZ that the Exynos 5250 is capable of. Either way, that’s nothing to balk at and will be more than enough for the mass majority of users. Samsung has had great success with the Note and if the rumors are true, the Galaxy Note 2 could do even better.
