Ever since Siri was introduced with the iPhone 4S last year, Google has been in a scramble to come up with their own similar product. Previously, the idea of telling your phone to do stuff, was weird. Okay, it’s still kind of weird, but as long as you can be understood, it saves time to simply say rather than physically type and hitting some buttons. With the various improvements in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google rolled out improvements to search, including a more improve voice product with better voice actions.
An Apply Analyst by the name of Gene Munster, shared a study that pitted the new search in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean up against Siri on the iPhone 4S. Google and Siri were both asked a whopping 800 questions, first in a quiet setting. They then asked both another 800 questions, but in a busy location near loud street traffic. For some reason they typed in the answers for Google Search instead of asking them, so it goes without saying that Google understood 100% of them.
Also, was able to accurately reply 86% of the time. Siri comprehended 83% of questions in a noisy environment and 89% in a quite environment. As far as answering accurately, Siri only answered accurately 62% of the time in noisy conditions and 68% in quite conditions.
Now, this whole study wasn’t truly a test of how both services stacked up against each other, however, the guys over at TechnoBuffalo did their own comparison test and from the looks of it, Google was able to respond much faster. Check out the video below and see what you think…
