As they say, “bigger is better”. Or is it? We’ve seen different tablets that were well above the 7 and 10 inches that people are accustomed to (this post is one bad innuendo joke) and one that was definitely notable was the 65 inch behemoth from a startup based out of Turkey. That was of course experimental, but one tablet that will be going on sale comes in at 21.5 inches, more than double the largest currently on the market.
Made by Kouziro, a Japan based company, the Kouziro FT103 is a desktop based tablet so no lugging it around. I mean who would carry around a tablet that big to begin with? Here’s the specs:
- 21.5 inch 1920×1080 HD display
- 1 GHZ dual-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB flash storage with microSD card support
- 1.2 megapixel camera for video chat
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
- 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
- Built-in speakers, microphone, headphone jack, and two USB ports
- No battery, requires being plugged in like a typical desktop PC
The price? $440 USD shipping towards the end of July. The chances of this making it to the states are rather slim, unless of course you figure out a way to buy online. The reality however is most people are familiar with and used to a keyboard and mouse when it comes to a desktop computer. Using a touchscreen interface for your home computing is simply not something that most consumers are interested in, at least for now.
