Oh, Amazon, you were first to the market with a respectably priced and capable Android tablet. You did well, you had forecasters foretelling massive sales and profits, you delivered. Now, though, there’s this tablet called the Nexus 7 and, I’m not sure if many of you have heard about it but, it’ $199 and absolutely destroys the Kindle Fire on paper. What have Amazon up their sleeve to keep a hold on the market? Well, aside from an inevitable second model of the Kindle Fire it seems like there going to slash the original to $169 once they’ve released the inevitable sequel to the original.
Whilst the Nexus 7 clearly wins in a comparison between the Fire both on and off paper it’s going to be interesting to see what the second model comes with and if people are really that fussed when it comes to $30. Having said that, I’m sure there’s a great number of people shopping on the Amazon website willing to spend $169 for a Kindle Fire as an off the cuff sort of purchase. There’s no word of what version of Android Amazon will be forking for the Kindle Fire 2 but, if they have even a hope of competing with the Nexus 7 at this point then I’d say that they’d have to fork at least Ice Cream Sandwich.
Let us know whether or not a saving of $30 will sway you to a Kindle Fire!
