The developers at CyanogenMod and XDA must have their hands full. It seems like yesterday that we were beginning to see the first stable versions of CM9 roll out and now we’re already seeing CM10 delivering KANG’s to the Nexus 7 among a few select other devices. Though it’s still in an alpha version, it offers up some unique add-ons that we’ve all come to know and love from Cyanogen.
The features are slowly beginning to propagate into the Nexus 7 among others. CM10 also has KANG’s showing up for the Transformer TF101, Transformer Prime, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, and a few more. If memory serves me correctly, I saw a KANG pop up for the old-timer Sammy Fascinate recently.
What particularly excites me about this news is the rapid pace of development. I’m guessing that the bridge between ICS and Jelly Bean was much shorter than that between Gingerbread and ICS. With that said, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of JB ROM’s popping up for current ICS devices, even if the Carrier/Manufacturer tag-team takes its sweet time.
With the Butter Project and Google Now coming along with the updated ROM, I can’t wait to join the party. Having the Nexus 7, I already get a sample but seeing what the enhancements can do with my daily drive HTC Sensation is exciting. I think we’re finally entering the crossroads in mobile technology where the software is finally beginning to catch up with the hardware.
