“MMmmm! Now that’s good Google!” Exciting news today guys, topped with a little bit of jealousy. Google has just introduced their long-awaited ISP service in Kansas City today. I know what you’re thinking and I’m just as jealous as you because I don’t live in Kansas City. With any hope though, we might see this service take off in Google’s pilot market and give them a very strong reason to introduce this into other markets across the US as well.
Basically what Google is doing here is offering a set of high-speed internet and TV services. Google Fiber will be available in three different packages, starting from a free-of-charge 5mbps internet only option all the way up to gigabit internet plus tv option for $120 a month. I say go big or go home, and settle in on the gigabit bundle.
While all of this sounds really cool and I’m glad to see some other options for internet and cable providers come through, this not remotely the most exciting part of the deal. We all know how Google likes to bring together all their services into a streamlined usable network of products. Google fiber will of course be no exception to this rule. More specifically Google plans to sweeten the deal for the TV package subscribers with a little jelly bean, in the form of a free Nexus 7 tablet that is. The new tablet from Google and Asus will serve as your tv’s new remote control. I already have a nexus 7 tablet myself but I’d sure subscribe to this service to get another one for free!
If the combination of the different types of plans and their costs, along with free nexus 7’s doesn’t throw major companies off their thrones a little I don’t know what will. I, like all of you out there are hoping for a big success here in Google’s attempt become the next big internet and TV service provider . It’s time for us to get our daily dose of fiber the Google way.
