Mini PCs have been an interesting topic considering decent hardware is getting smaller and cheaper as time goes on. A new segment that is growing in popularity are mini PCs powered by Android, Android 4.0 in this case, and are the size of a USB thumb drive. Where computers used to be the size of an entire desk, we know have something that’s far more powerful and can fit in the palm of your hand.
There’s a new mini PC in town by the name of the CX-01 which is currently for sale on PandaWill. Clocking in at $47.99 not counting shipping, it looks to offer the Android 4.0 experience we’ve grown to love, but in a nice little form factor that you can then, for example, plug into an HDTV and have a complete Android experience from the comfort of your living room.
The specs aren’t anything amazing, but they appear to be enough to get the job done, having the same processor speed and RAM as some slightly older Android devices.
- 1GHZ Cortex A5 single-core processor
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB Internal flash storage, no microSD card support
- 1080p video output
- Wifi
- USB 2.0 port for support keyboard and mouse
- MicroUSB port for powering device
- Android 4.0 with access to the Google Play Store
As you can see, not bad for a device that will run you under 50 bucks. Unfortunately, there is no bluetooth support. There are currently no reviews, but chances are quite a few devices have already been snatched up.
With more and more people having HDTVs, the benefit of an Android powered mini PC is huge. Instead of buying a Google TV which, let’s be honest, is rather lacking at this point, you can simply buy a device that connects to your existing TV and that offers far more.
