Featured: New Smartphone To Feature HD Screen, Quad Core Processor For Around $300 Unlocked

The list of companies developing their very own smartphones and/or tablets is a long one and every once in a while someone comes along to shake things up a bit. Most new high end smartphones that come out typically cost $199 to $299 on a two year contract and well over $500 if bought unlocked. As time goes on, hardware that we’ve seen to be on the pricey side, starts to go down.

For example, Google rolled out the Nexus 7 which has a quad core processor and 7 inch screen and costs about $184 to build. A company by the name of Xiaomi is planning on rolling out a new smartphone soon, next month to be exact, and will be the second generation. Called the MI-2, this smartphone is no slouch and will be offered unlocked.

Before we get into the price, here’s some of what we know as far as the specs. The MI-2 will feature a 720p HD screen, quad-core Qualcomm processor, 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, two-tone paint job, and will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Not bad for a smartphone that will cost $313 USD which also will make it the cheapest quad-core smartphone currently on the market.

Pictures were leaked out from Foxconn which you can check out below. While the price is good, build quality is another thing. It’d be great to have a quad-core phone that costs less than anything else on the market, but if the quality of it sucks and has issues because of a lack of quality, pricing doesn’t matter. Those on a budget and wanting their hands on a high powered unlocked smartphone, should definitely keep their eyes on this.
