Philips is known mostly for their wide range of electronics and home appliances but they also dish out a smartphone once in a while. Although, these smartphones are only limited to the Chinese territory and there are no official words if there will be any US launch whatsoever. Following their previous launch of Gingerbread-based W632 smartphone Philips has announced “W732′, successor to the W632.
Notable features include a 4.3” 800x480p WVGA IPS LCD Display, 1GHz Single core CPU, Android 4.0 ICS, 5MP Rear shooter and best of all Dual-SIM support. However, the single best feature of the phone is its 2,400 mAh battery that will last for straight 13 hours of continuous talk time or 10.5 hours of uninterrupted web browsing, claims the manufacturer. At the moment Motorola RAZR MAXX offers the longest talk time on an Android phone but even the RAZR MAXX lacks in battery juice when it comes to web browsing. The main reason behind less web browsing time is the AMOLED panel. AMOLED screen is best for viewing blacks as it consumes less battery power when viewing blacks and other dark colors. However, when displaying whites and lighter colors AMOLED screens tend to take more power than a normal LCD display. Now, the web browsing mainly consists of pure white and lighter backgrounds so LCD IPS display outshines AMOLED displays when it comes to longer web browsing.
The Philips W732 will be available in China pretty soon. It will come in five different colors consisting of black, white, pink, blue and green.
