Samsung is shaping up for yet another launch. Just recently, they held an event to announce their Galaxy S III, the next generation in their highly popular line of smartphones. A new smartphone that was introduced last year, the Galaxy Note which is a hybrid smartphone/tablet, has went on to do really good as well. Scheduled for August 3oth and dubbed “Unpacked”, Samsung will likely be announcing the Galaxy Note 2 as well as the Galaxy Note 10.1, a new tablet.
We’ve already got all the details spec-wise on the tablet as it is currently available for pre-order, but not so much with the Note 2. Chances are, we’ll be hearing about availability of both devices among other things. The Galaxy Note 2 has been rumored to be released in October, although we haven’t received official word as of yet. What we do know about is the, again, unofficial specs.
- 5.5 inch 1680 x 1050 Super AMOLED display
- Dual-core Exynos 5250 CPU
- 1.5 or 2GB RAM
- 4G LTE
- Possibly Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Come August 30th, we’ll get the official scoop. As for the Galaxy Note 10.1, you can already pre-order which means it will be shipping soon, likely around the same time as the Note 2. Starting at $499.99, you get a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 1GB RAM, internal storage up to 64GB and microSD card slot, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and a 7,000mAh battery.
The Galaxy Note 2 appears to be a very solid smartphone so it’ll be nice to finally lock down an official date and official specs. The pricing for the Note 10.1 is on par with the iPad 3 despite having a lower quality display, so it’ll be interesting to see how well that does.
