Featured: The Wait Is Over, T-Mobile Getting The Samsung Galaxy Note August 8th

T-Mobile customers have been left in the dark when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy Note which came out back in October, but it seems that they will finally be getting the 5 inch smartphone on August 8th. The whole timing is a bit crappy considering that the Galaxy Note is about due for a refresh with version 2 launching this fall. Basically, if you are to get the phone, shortly after you get it, a new one will already be out.

Oh, you just gotta love technology and slow rollouts. The phone will run you $299.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate on a two year contract. Why not just offer it for $249.99 like AT&T (or less since it will soon be outdated) is beyond me. Here’s a brief run down of the specs to refresh your memory:

  • 5.3 inch HD Super AMOLED display at 800×1280
  • Corning Gorilla Glass for drop and scratch protection
  • 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 dual-core processor
  • Mali-400MP GPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p video support
  • 2 megapixel front-facing camera
  • 16GB internal storage with microSD card support up to 32GB
  • HSPA+
  • 2500mAh battery
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

The Samsung Galaxy Note is a great device, but again, T-Mobile should have rolled it out much earlier. Many customers are likely going to see this as a “new” smartphone and then likely be surprised when they see the Galaxy Note 2 launch here very shortly.
