The name Nexus is no stranger to the Android marketplace. All of Google’s own smartphones and tablets feature the Nexus name. With the next generation Galaxy Nexus about due for launch, a designer by the screen name of Killu-Chan, created a mockup of what the Galaxy Nexus 2 could ideally look like, and included some ideal specs. Of course this is a concept and not at all representative of the actual device which we have yet to hear about, but it doesn’t hurt to dream, right?
With a very slick look, the phone still has the buttons built into the display itself. The glass is edge to edge which gives a very nice look. Anyways, on to the ideal specs, the RAM of which is either a typo or they really enjoy overkill…
- 5 inch 720p Super AMOLED display
- Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for superior durability and scratch prevention
- 32GB storage
- 8GB RAM
- HSDPA+ connectivity
- microUSB with MHL and USB on the go
- Wifi and bluetooth 4.0
- 12 megapixel rear-facing camera with the ability to take an image while recording video, 1080p support at 30fps
- 2 megapixel front-facing camera with 720p video recording
- 3200mAh battery
- Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
- 2GHZ NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor
- ULP GeForce GPU
Rather bold specs in some instances, but that would be a pretty awesome phone. The chances of the Galaxy Nexus 2 having a 5 inch screen is possible. From 3.7 to 4.65, the screen on Nexus phones have steadily increased. As far as the RAM, that’s definitely not going to happen and will likely have just 1GB which is standard for quad-core powered devices.
There’s been rumors of the Motorola Droid RAZR HD having a 13 megapixel camera so 12 isn’t too far off. When it comes to the battery, it would be difficult to fit a 3200mAh battery in the Galaxy Nexus 2 and still maintain a thin profile, but considering all the issues people have been having with battery life on the current generation Nexus, either there needs to be a bigger battery or Google and Samsung really need to work on the power consumption.
