Last week Sony began rolling out Android 4.0.4 to the Xperia P, and starting this week Sony will be rolling out Ice Cream Sandwich to a whole list of other devices. These include the Xperia Arc, Xperia Arc S, Xperia neo, Xperia neo V, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active, and the Xperia Ray. Going further, in the next few weeks even more devices are slated to get the updated firmware, which include Xperia mini pro, Xperia neo L and live with walkman.
The Sony Mobile blog goes on to detail how to update to Android 4.0.4. If you’ve already upgraded to ICS then you’ll receive a notification and can download the update Over-the-Air (OTA), but if you’re still on good old gingerbread you’ll need to plug in and upgrade using PC companion or Bridge (for the mac users).
Now delays are expected, as the updates are in testing and bugs may be found that need to be squashed before the roll out can begin. Let’s cross our fingers and hope there’s no delays and our fellow Sony device owners can get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich.
So yes Sony is pretty late to the game with bringing ICS to its’ 2011 Xperia devices, but at least it’ll be here very soon. Who’s excited to get some ICS on their Xperia phone? Now the next question is, how are those Jelly Bean updates going?
