LG have had a pretty good year this year, in terms of quality devices that is. Whilst the Optimus Vu is of course questionable with its 5″ sized display, the Optimus LTE II was a pretty solid device and seemed to be the first device to make us think that 2GB of RAM was not only feasible in a phone but also a sort of “why not” thing. The bigger and more advanced apps get on Android the more RAM we’re going to need to keep multitasking as smooth as it is now. It looks like LG aren’t resting on their laurels and have now have announced the LG Optimus G, yet another killer superphone. Inside this time we’ve got the following:
- 4.7-inch True HD IPS 1280×768 display
- 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 2100mAh capacity battery
- 13MP rear and 1.3MP front cameras
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with LG’s Skin present, of course.
Unsurprisingly for a South Korean company there is no word on an American or Global release just yet however, it’s going to be on offer with LTE next month in Korea. LG is doing a good job on closing the gap between announcement and realise even if it is only localised to South Korea that’s a pretty speedy turnaround. I’m excited to see just how the already powerful S4 chip performs in quad-core mode, especially up against the current quad-core kings of nVidia’s Tegra 3 and Samsung’s Exynos 4. I’m sure we’ll hear more about the latest and greatest from LG next week at IFA in Berlin. We might even here something of a global release. Fingers crossed, folks.
