Featured: Motorola and Intel Team-Up; Ready to Tell All at September 18th Event

Intel on mobile hasn’t exactly been the instant success that it was meant to be and in fact only a handful of phones around the world – most based on the reference design – are packing the Atom-based chip. Not to mention the fact that these phones launched with Gingerbread 2.3 and are still stuck there. An odd move when you consider that Ice Cream Sandwich was written for x86 based processors as well as ARM based. However, the few phones out there are still on Gingerbread and none of these phones have been all that inspiring. It looks like Motorola is finally ready to make good on their promise from way back at CES this year. To partner up with Intel and bring some brilliant phones to market.

Or, at least that’s what we’re hoping for, right? Motorola are now ready to unveil what they’ve been working on come September 18th in London. There aren’t any clues as to what they’ll be announcing apart from the tagline “Let Us Take You To The Edge” that’s been circulating around on the Press Invites. There’s a very real chance that the two of them will reveal phones packing the new Medfield chip, just like they said they would back in January. Whether or not these phones will actually look any different than the RAZRs and Atrix HDs of the world is unknown but I really doubt Motorola would break out the new designs for Intel packing phones.

Of course, we’ll have more when the event is over and done with.
