We have some great news for those that own the Verizon Galaxy S3. Actually it’s kind of big news. Well you know that locked bootloader many people have made a big deal out of? It’s now unlocked! I’ve said this before, and I’m sure I’ll continue to say it. The developer community for Android is just plain awesome. Thanks to some developers over at XDA, owners of the Verizon branded Galaxy S3 can now unlock their bootloaders and hack away.
But of course there’s a catch. If you unlock your bootloader you will not be able to get official updates from Verizon, if they ever do make it to your device. Instead you’ll have to relock the bootloader and go back to stock in order to update to Jelly Bean when it finally does arrive. We have instructions for you below. But be careful as I have not done this, since I don’t have a Galaxy S3.

The following insturctions are for Linux and Mac users only.
1. Download this JAR file and open it.
2. Connect your device via USB, select “Root with DebugFSRoot” and “Do It.”
3. Select “Flash Unsecure Aboot” and “Do It.”
4. Use Odin or ClockworkMod to flash custom kernels to your SGS3.
If you’re a Windows user, you can try downloading Ubuntu and booting the LIVE CD.
