We’ve seen the likes of many 7 inch tablets over the years, quite worth mentioning is the Nexus 7 which launched this year and is one of the hottest selling Android tablets. For $199, a quad-core Tegra 3, 1GB RAM, an okay amount of storage, and decent battery life? It simply has yet to be beat and even our very own Tom Dawson agrees in his top 10 tablet rankings.
While the Nexus 7 is an absolutely powerhouse and is making it so that other manufacturers have to step their game up in order to compete, with pricing on older technology further dropping, this has opened up the way for low range tablets to start to appear in the marketplace. One such tablet is the Matrix One which, while doesn’t have amazing specs, at $59, cheaper than the last generation Amazon Kindle, it doesn’t look too bad.
- 7 inch 800 x 480 LCD display
- 1.5GHZ Cortex-A8 processor
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB internal storage with microSD card support up to 32GB
- 2 megapixel front-facing camera
- 0.4 inches thick, 0.69 pounds
- 3,200 mAh battery
The Matrix One looks to be a great tablet if you’re wanting to start off with something small and maybe something for the kids which is what it seems to be more geared towards. At $59, you really can’t beat it and this is likely just the beginning of under $100 tablets that offer decent performance and an Android experience.
