Didn’t the Verizon branded LG Optimus Vu just hit the states like a few weeks ago? And we are already seeing leaks of its successor? This morning images of the LG Optimus Vu 2 have leaked, while some of the wording in the images are in Korean, we can still get the gist of most of the specifications.
The specs on the LG Optimus Vu 2 are quite unexpected for an LG device, although it looks like the screen is keeping the same resolution as the original Optimus Vu, which is quite disappointing. According to the image above, it looks like the LG Optimus Vu 2 is going to feature the same WVGA 1024×768 resolution display. On a 5″ device I would have expected something with a bit higher resolution. As far as the processor, it will have the S4 except it won’t be quad-core. Yeah LG is sticking the dual-core S4 CPU in this 5″ device. Along with 2GB of RAM for all of your multi-tasking needs. The device is also running Android 4.0 – Ice Cream Sandwich.
All of the images we have here are from our good friends over at AndroidGreed. They have three very legit looking images, and if these hold true we should see the LG Optimus Vu 2 at Mobile World Congress next February if not earlier. Unless we see it in the next few weeks, I would hope that LG will upgrade the Optimus Vu 2 to have Jelly Bean or the unannounced Key Lime Pie.
Did you buy the LG Optimus Vu, or LG Intuition if you’re on Verizon? How are you liking it so far, and is this a worthy upgrade to the original LG phone/tablet hybrid device? Depending on how HTC’s 5-inch device hits the market and how well consumers like it, the LG Optimus Vu 2 might be a competitive device for Samsung’s Galaxy Note II. But it’ll be hard to compete with the Galaxy Note II since it is going to be available on five different carriers in the US.
