Featured: Motorola updates their ICS update plans, Many OTA's delayed and no Jelly Bean updates

Lately we’ve seen some great stuff coming from Motorola following the Google acquisition of the manufacturer. But this right here is a step in the wrong direction. Today Motorola updated their Software Upgrade schedule, which included the Atrix 4G, Droid Xyboard 8.2, Atrix 2, Motorola Xoom Family Edition, Droid Bionic, Photon 4G, Electrify, Droid 2, Droid 2 Global, Droid 3, and Droid Pro. Now a few of the devices won’t ever see official ICS which is sad, but there’s always rooting and flashing custom ROMs.

Among those devices the ones that will remain on Gingerbread are the Atrix 4G, Droid 2, Droid 2 Global, Droid 3, and Droid Pro. The rest are due to get ICS in quarter 4 of this year, yeah that’s a year after Ice Cream Sandwich came out. When will these manufacturers get it together? The Photon 4G and Electrify have no upgrade plans so far, so they might get bumped up to ICS or they may stay at Gingerbread, hopefully Motorola will make their decision soon.

Do you own any of these devices? Does it break your heart to see these changes? I know it breaks mine, I used to be such a big fan of Motorola devices. Starting out with the original Motorola Droid, but Motorola needs to learn how to upgrade their devices a bit quicker than they are doing. Some of these devices that are going to remain on Gingerbread, are not too surprising to the most of us. Yet it is still sad, everyone deserves some Ice Cream Sandwich goodness.

Let’s see how long before Google can turn this sinking ship that is Motorola around and bring them back in line to compete with Samsung and Apple.
