Qualcomm has long been the leader in mobile technology and supplies the chips for a large chunk of the smartphones currently in the marketplace. The Snapdragon S4 Pro looks especially nice. To make a long story short, they not only have a smaller architecture which means less power usage and less heat, but are also based on the Cortex-A15 while say the Tegra 3 is still based on the Cortex-A9.
Anyways, the company does face some competition from Intel and their Atom platform which has made its way into some devices. Intel already commands the desktop and laptop market as a leader and it’s pretty clear they also want to grow market share on mobile as well. Qualcomm isn’t having any of this and to step things up a bit they released a video showing how their 2010 technology was better than Intel’s current mobile technology.
Can somebody say ouch? They show off zooming, scrolling, web browsing, and even gaming, well, kind of. It’s easy for a company to say that their product is better, but clearly demonstrating it in a video is another thing. Of course there’s a multitude of factors involved. Qualcomm doesn’t mention the versions of Android running on each phone for example.
However, until Intel retorts, we’ll take Qualcomm’s word for now. Check out the video below and see the comparison for yourself…
